Who's behind this site?
Here I am knitting in the stern of Sarafina, our sailing home for five years. Stretched out on my knitting bag is Hobbes, the ship's cat. My husband and I sold nearly everything we owned and moved aboard a 36' sailboat. I started out with several skeins of stash and gradually accumulated a bin full of yarn cleverly disguised in the stern berth as "linen storage." Knitting was a great companion on long passages from Maine to the Bahamas.
We moved back to land in Essex, Connecticut. As well as bringing my stash ashore (with room to expand), I came back into my knitting group, a group of eleven women we call Knitbliss...ah bliss. The A to Z book was created for them with my love of drawing, knitting, design, and with my joy at having room to work, in a place that wasn't rocking and rolling.

Block by block the Forest Path Stole for my daughter is growing. It's a very satisfying, although slow, project. Just when I think I have the three botanical patterns in hand I end up with an odd stitch or an extra hole. For a view of the whole piece, so far, click on the photo.
The Dedham, MA Women's Exchange is selling my mitten kits and have requested holiday colors. Really like the way the bright red goes with these two shades of a soft green. Will try a colorway with red cuff and green stripes next.
